Fentanyl Detox, Therapy, and Recovery Planning near Riverside

For many, fentanyl addiction becomes a fear-driven cycle—waking up already bracing for withdrawal, chasing brief relief, and crashing just as hard. Over time, use shifts from chasing a high to avoiding symptoms like nausea, body aches, and anxiety. It’s an exhausting cycle, but specialized opioid treatment can provide medical support for the body and therapeutic care for the mind.

You may be wondering:

  • How bad is fentanyl withdrawal?

  • How long does fentanyl detox take?

  • Will I ever feel normal again without fentanyl?

  • What happens if I relapse?

  • Does insurance cover fentanyl rehab?

These concerns are justified, and they’re more common than you might think. It’s normal to have fears around withdrawal, detox, and the risk of relapse, but that doesn’t mean you’re stuck. It means you understand what’s at stake—and you’re ready to step out of the cycle.

At California Detox, we recognize how complex opioid addiction can be. Our team near Riverside provides personalized care plans, medication-assisted treatment, and evidence-based therapies within a structured, calm environment—so you can stabilize physically and begin healing mentally and emotionallyWe also offer lower levels of care, such as outpatient drug and alcohol addiction treatment, through the District Behavioral Health Group.

Case Manager - RADT

I grew up as an only child in Redmond, Washington, and my early adulthood was marked by personal struggles with addiction. At age 31, I made the decision to seek detox treatment in Costa Mesa, California—a turning point that ultimately reshaped the direction of my life. Through my own recovery journey, I became deeply inspired to support others facing challenges related to addiction and mental health. Eight months after completing treatment, I began working in the field as a Behavioral Technician, where I discovered a strong sense of purpose in helping clients stabilize, grow, and move forward in their recovery. My dedication to this work led me to a Case Manager position at Alliance Recovery, and in July 2023, I joined Connections as a Case Manager in a mental health residential setting. In this role, I am passionate about advocating for clients, supporting long-term stability, and helping individuals build meaningful lives beyond treatment.

Case Manager - RADT

I am a Case Manager at a substance use and mental health treatment facility with over five years of experience supporting individuals on their recovery journeys. I am deeply passionate about this work and committed to helping clients build stability, resilience, and hope as they work toward their personal goals. I approach my role with empathy, accountability, and a strong belief in the power of recovery. I am also in recovery myself and have been sober since 2019, which allows me to bring both professional experience and personal understanding to my work. Outside of the treatment setting, I enjoy surfing and playing video games, which help me stay balanced and grounded. I am grateful to be part of a field where I can support others while continuing to grow personally and professionally.

Clinical Director - LMFT

Is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) and an accomplished clinical director with over 15 years of dedicated experience in mental health and substance use treatment. Since 2009, he has made a significant impact in the field, working tirelessly to support individuals grappling with addiction and mental health issues in a variety of settings, including residential treatment centers and outpatient facilities. Having been sober since 2002, Sean brings personal insights to his practice, empowering clients to navigate their unique challenges and break free from the cycle of addiction and the difficulties associated with mental health disorders. His compassionate and client-centered philosophy fosters a supportive environment that encourages growth, resilience, and long-lasting recovery.

Program Director - CADC-II

My name is Caitlin Garcia and I have been working in the substance use and mental health field for 17 years. I have experience supporting both adults and adolescents with mental health, substance use, and co occurring disorders. I currently hold my CADC II and am pursuing my Masters degree in Psychology to continue growing in this work. I believe recovery is not just about treatment but about helping individuals rediscover their voice, their worth, and their purpose, and I am honored to be part of that journey.

Therapist - AMFT

Maggie Fortin, AMFT, APCC is a therapist at California Detox, working collaboratively with clients to support healing and personal growth. Integrating principles from Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Narrative Therapy, she is deeply committed to assisting individuals in their recovery from substance use disorders and co-occurring mental health conditions, helping them co-construct meaningful narratives that foster autonomy and personal agency. Working from a trauma-informed and collaborative lens, Maggie guides clients in exploring and reshaping their relationship with substances, supporting the development of resilience, self-awareness, and coping skills. Her work reflects a profound commitment to transforming the lives of individuals as they navigate the challenges and opportunities of addiction recovery.

Tour Our Residential Fentanyl Rehab near Riverside

A Closer Look at Fentanyl Use and Local Impact near Riverside

In 2023, there were about 5 local news stories tied to fentanyl and other drug-related harm in the Riverside-area. Many of these stories are the result of ongoing fentanyl use. They surface after an overdose, an ER visit, or a death—when families are already in crisis. What makes fentanyl so dangerous is how quickly use can turn into a life-threatening emergency, often without any warning signs.

That urgency is reflected in the numbers. In 2023, an estimated 32 people in Riverside were affected by serious drug use, as compared to 2022. This represents a -21.95% , signaling how severe the trend has become. When you place this statistic against a total population of 2288508 residents as of 2023, it becomes clear how concentrated and dangerous fentanyl exposure can be within a single community.

If fentanyl use is affecting you or a loved one, our addiction and mental health treatment programs can help you find answers to your questions and explore inpatient treatment options available near Riverside.

Why Our Fentanyl Rehab Program near Riverside Works

New research shows that medications like extended-release buprenorphine can support recovery from fentanyl use by reducing cravings and creating more consistent stability. In a large clinical study, about 63% of people who started treatment right away stayed engaged in care, compared to under 50% with traditional approaches—an important factor in reducing overdose risk. This is why having the right support early on can make such a difference.

Our residential inpatient program offers:

  • Medication-assisted treatment (MAT) tailored to your specific needs

  • 24/7 supervised detox to reduce discomfort and ensure safety

  • Evidence-based therapies, including CBT, MI, DBT, EMDR, and trauma-informed counseling

  • Practical tools to manage cravings and emotional triggers

  • Guidance from licensed clinicians focused on real-life application

At California Detox near Riverside, care takes place in a peaceful, thoughtfully designed setting that supports both comfort and focus. With ocean views, warm weather, and a recovery-friendly environment, clients have the space to stabilize, reset, and begin an approachable road to recovery.

This was a phenomenal rehab that really cares about patients, and takes the time to make sure that their needs on the outside are met while in treatment. The six person house makes the treatment so much more personal. Also, the views from the house makes recovery so much easier.

Staff is very helpful and its a beautiful location. The weekend outings were fun and memorable. They even took me to get a pedicure! The ocean view makes the stay worthwhile and all the skills that are taught throughout the week I am able to use for my whole life time. Every day we learned something new about ourselves and how to live a healthy lifestyle in sobriety. I am forever grateful for this facility, Laguna beach has my heart!

Had an amazing recovery experience at California Detox. All the staff were incredible. Rachel my case manager made everything incredibly easy and really kept me motivated. Jenny and Chris did my intake and made me feel welcome and at home as soon as I met them. Chris is hilarious. Jackson made every outing one to remember and always had a way of connecting the clients. Nicole always had a positive energy that rubbed off on me, and we would bond over music. Thank you Rene for always taking us to AA meetings and the store for a soda or vape! In general I'm so thankful to have come here every single one of the staff mad a huge impact on me whether that be personally or through groups. The facilitators are also incredible, Brian was my personal favorite. The house is in a beautiful location and your daily schedule has the perfect balance, focusing heavily on your personal journey of recovery, but also giving more than enough time to unwind and enjoy your day. Will miss being here and miss every person I got to meet in this small chapter of my life.

Truthfully speaking this place saved my life and helped me find myself internally and all of the external things fell into place quickly than I could imagine. Nicole made it a safe warm welcome, along with Rachel's intro. I enjoyed and had fun with the entire staff but most of all the group facilitators were knowledgeable, helpful, insightful, and amazing. I've learned some great coping tools and would recommend this place to anyone who would like to experience true, safe, happy, and caring detox treatment. The staff was overall what helped me surrender from day 1 and wasn't being all institutional guards. Dave Rocks, and Cooper coming every Wednesday was something I would forward to until I decided to change my eating habits. Rachel, Nicole,Renee, Jared,Larson,Chris, Jenny and Jackson were the best. Maggie was very helpful and great with therapy. I've experienced some amazing outings that I wouldn't do normally and will remember this place 4 LIFE!! thank you all for helping me and a memorable 41st.birthday as well!!!

I can't recommend California Detox enough! From the moment I arrived, I felt safe, cared for, and supported in every way. The house itself is gorgeous, with amazing views of the Pacific Ocean that really helped me feel calm even on tough days. The rooms were super clean and comfortable--way more like a home than a treatment center. What really stood out, though, was the staff. Rachel, the case manager, is truly incredible. She listened, supported, and guided me through everything with so much care and professionalism. And Renee and Nicole from the support staff were absolutely amazing--they always checked in on me, made sure I felt safe, and treated me like a person, not just a patient. This was a proper medical detox, so I always felt safe physically and emotionally. They had everything we needed and made sure we were comfortable and cared for around the clock. I honestly couldn't have asked for a better detox experience--and I'm proud to say I'm still sober today! Thank you, California Detox, for helping me start my journey in such a supportive, beautiful place.

As someone who has had the privilege of leading therapy groups at this facility, I can honestly say it's one of the most dedicated and client-centered treatment environments I've ever been part of. The clinical team is made up of some of the most compassionate, skilled, and ethical professionals I've worked with -- people who genuinely care about each client's journey and meet them where they are with respect and empathy. The group sessions here are dynamic, trauma-informed, and tailored to meet the real needs of individuals in early recovery. Whether it's processing work, relapse prevention, or skill-building, we strive to create a safe and empowering space for healing. The clients do courageous work, and it's an honor to walk alongside them in the process. The facility itself is clean, peaceful, and well-run, and I constantly hear positive feedback about the food (which is no small thing when you're working on getting healthy again). Everything from the daily schedule to the clinical programming is designed to support long-term recovery and whole-person wellness. I'm proud to be part of a place that truly makes a difference in people's lives.

Why Traveling for Fentanyl Rehab Can Support Recovery

For people struggling with fentanyl use, staying close to familiar environments can make recovery harder and relapse inevitable. Daily routines, locations, and access points often reinforce our unconscious patterns and coping methods. Moving for rehab can make new habits 4x more likely to stick. The physical distance from triggers or unsupportive social circles reduces pressure and allows you a chance to rebuild the life you truly want. Traveling can:

  • Create distance from access points and daily triggers

  • Support safer stabilization with medication-assisted treatment (MAT) during early recovery

  • Reduce fentanyl relapse risk by breaking habitual patterns

Traveling to Southern California for fentanyl rehab is a meaningful step. Many clients are surprised by how a welcoming recovery community, warmer weather, and oceanside views can support their mental and emotional state during recovery. At California Detox, our inpatient residential program pairs this environment with supervised 24/7 medical detox, personalized therapeutic care, group support, and holistic approaches to encourage long-term recovery.
